Starting September 2018 Subaru is extending the CVT's warranty to 10 years or 100,000 miles (from 5 years or 60,000 miles),
starting at date of first sale on these models

Current owners should receive a letter, or call your local dealer and have your VIN handy.
On cars with over 100,000 miles, repairs must be completed prior to 9/30/19

3/7/16 Subaru shuts off 2016 Crosstrek Hybrid factory orders effective immediately.
Without the usual order cutoff warning a few weeks given a few weeks in advance, Subaru today (3/7/16) announced they won't be accepting any more orders for the 16 Crosstrek Hybrid. Orders for the other Crosstrek models will continue to be accepted. No reason for the sudden and unexpected cutoff was given, but this will allow the factory to build more of the fast selling Crosstreks.

Overall the 16 Crosstrek is a great package.
The Crosstrek ground clearance and high seating position make it easy to get in/out of with good forward visibility.
The new for 2016 7" audio system works very well- its standard on Limited and optional on Premium.
The new for 2016 6.2" system is an improvement over previous years but is really mediocre and disappointing compared to the 7" system functions and ease of use.
The new for 2016 Navigation is now worth having. Even if your cell phone has navigation, the car's 7" screen is always available.
The new for 2016 Blind spot detection is easy to get used to.
The new for 2016 Starlink overhead emergency buttons are convenient and free for one year. The salesperson will activate it (pretty much required to) at time of purchase.
Quieter ride than previous years
The new for 2016 orange seat stitching is a bit distracting at first but easy to get used to. Designed for younger buyers.
The new for 2016 gray interiors will be hold up better than the beige interior.
The new for 2016 beige leather is way too light/bright and will show dirt easily.
The new for 2016 beige cloth interior is visually busy with multiple seat materials and will show dirt easily.
The new for 2016 alloy wheels, front grill, rear lower trim is all ok. Subaru isn't taking chances with the look.

Extremely easy to ding doors... the doors ding very easily. This was not the case with 2013-2015 models. Be very careful in parking lots how close you are to the car next to you.
Needs a power driver's seat.
Needs a height adjustable front passenger seat
Needs better Keyless Access optional remote start system. The pushbutton start's optional remote start does not work well at all. It requires an awkward "push-push-pause-push-and-hold-to-start" and has a very short and weak 20-30 ft range and doesn't like any floors or walls. Ugh. On the other hand, the optional remote start system with the standard key works very well, is easy to use and has a huge range.
Speaking of keyless Access/pushbutton start, Subaru still needs a better way to lock the key inside the car than their impossible to use 'pin code access'. Sheesh. This means wrapping the key in tin foil is still the easiest and best way.
Still disappointing> every new Subaru comes with 3 years/36000 miles free Roadside Assistance. This roadside assistance really should include any Subarus the buyer owns.

It was new on the 2015 Crosstrek Its the 3rd generation Eyesight (note- 1st gen Eyesight was never offered in the US). It includes Steering responsive fog lights Active cruise control, Lane departure warning, Pre-collision warning and Pre-collision braking. > Steering responsive fog lights uses steering wheel position to briefly turn on the left or right fog light to illuminate a corner when the steering wheel is turned. Headlights in 'auto' setting and fog lights off for the system to work. > Active Cruise Control combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead. It issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed. Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. Eyesight cars have three windshield washer squirters, with the middle one to clean in front of the cameras. The camera’s field of view is about 35 degrees horizontally from the center of the windshield. The camera’s field of vision extends up to about 360 feet in front of the vehicle, but objects very close to the vehicle may not be detected EyeSight works to recognize obstacles up to about a 30-mph (or less) speed differential. Essentially, EyeSight needs time to recognize an object or potential obstacle. If the speed difference between the EyeSight vehicle and the object is greater than up to 30 mph, the object will likely not be detected. Note- do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue

The Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) system uses two radar units, each mounted underneath the sheet metal immediately below the rear taillights. To help avoid damage, the radar units are purposely mounted above the typical bumper impact line. The radar units send out signals to detect vehicles behind and to each side of the Subaru vehicle, especially those vehicles that might not be visible in the rearview mirrors. Lane Change Assist (LCA) looks for vehicles farther back in an adjacent lane – about 220 feet behind the Subaru vehicle. If the vehicle detected is approaching quickly – at a speed that could bring it alongside the Subaru vehicle within a few seconds – Lane Change Assist will illuminate a warning icon in the exterior mirror on that side. If the driver signals a lane change, the warning icon in the mirror will flash rapidly. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) is standard on Limiteds, optional on Premiums. It will illuminate a warning icon in the exterior mirror when it detects a vehicle alongside and behind the Subaru vehicle in an area of about 22 feet x 11 feet. If the driver signals a lane change to that side, the warning icon in the mirror will flash. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) uses the same radars and sensors to help detect vehicles that cannot be seen by the driver as they approach from either side. Engine start/stop technology, hybrid only	Hybrid models only The engine shuts off when the car is in Drive and the car stops with driver's foot on the brake. Releasing the brake starts EV (electric vehicle) mode, and stepping on the gas pedal will instantly restart the gas engine. If the air conditioning is on, the engine might stay on. There are two 12v batteries in the engine compartment. The right (passenger) side battery is the auto stop-start battery. The driver (left) side battery is the normal battery.
Active grill shutter, hybrids only	Hybrid models only The Active front grill shutter are flaps behind the front of the lower part of the front grill that open to improve engine cooling and close to improve aerodynamics and fuel economy. The shutters, or flaps, close when starting a cold engine for faster warm-up and are also closed above 25mph to improve aerodynamics and fuel economy except in high temperature conditions when extra cooling is needed due to acceleration or a/c needs. After warm-up, the grill shutter stays open for stop-go low speed driving up to 25mph.

PZEV	What is PZEV, a brief summary Partial Zero Emission Vehicle The EPA says a PZEV is clean running gas engine car based on emissions testing for carbon-containing compounds, oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter, and other tailpipe nastiness. 1. A charcoal canister catches unburned gas left in the engine when it's turned off so it doesn't just evaporate. 2. Fuel injectors that close tighter when they're not in use. 3. A finer mesh in the catalytic converter, as well as optimized placement of its precious metal. 4. The engine's electronic brain is tuned to run the hot at start up to help the catalytic converter heat up so it can start doing its job faster.

WHAT IS HD RADIO
Digital radio broadcast signal for improved clarity
The ‘HD’ in ‘HD Radio’ is part of iBiquity Digital’s brand name for its digital AM and FM radio technology.
It does not mean either 'hybrid digital' or 'high definition'.
HD Radio broadcasting is free, there are no fees.
You can get digital AM and FM stations, including HD2 and HD3 multicast channels.
HD is your favorite local AM and FM stations broadcasting digitally, producing improved clean sound.
Radio station subchannels give you more selection
The service includes iTunes Tagging. iTunes Tagging lets you capture information about a song on the radio and store it on your iPod by pushing the "Tag" button on the HD Radio receiver. When your iPod is connected to iTunes, a list of tagged songs will appear which can be purchased.

STARLINK CONNECTED SERVICES

Helps with notification in an emergency accident/collision, if you're locked out, lost, car is stolen, broken down, with emergency services, and with mechanical issues and notification.
There are 3 SiriusXM staffed call centers in the U.S. (in Texas and Utah)

AT&T provides the cellular service for emergency (red SOS button) and user requested roadside assistance (blue button) services via an integrated 4G phone connection. The phone has a lithium backup battery so it has power in the event of an accident. The red and blue buttons are in the overhead console. The car does need to be in an area with AT&T cell coverage for the connection to work (check coverage at http://att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html).

Sirius/XM provides the telematics

Android and Apple phones use the Starlink app for infotainment, and then either the MySubaru app or online at MySubaru.com for connected vehicle services and account information.
So if you have an iphone or android, download both the Subaru Starlink and MySubaru apps

Ordering a car.
What if the dealer doesn't have what I want?

The supply of Crosstreks is tight and just like with all Imprezas there are more buyers than cars.
Dealers get a limited number of cars each month.
They have an Incoming report and you can put your name on one of the incoming cars.
As a result, many incoming cars will be sold before they arrive.
That means a factory order might be the way to get the exact car and features you want.
Factory orders will be filled from your dealer's normal allocation of Crosstreks,
When first ordered, the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) will probably be a 'month of...' that is around 3-4 months out from the order date.
The order will then be filled as available but it will probably be in the 2-3 month window.
Your dealer can also try to locate or find a suitable car for you at another dealer who is willing to swap Crosstreks.
Be patient, the dealer will want you get your car as quickly as possible.
