Made by Fuji (Subaru) in Ota, Japan. Introduced in 1993, the Impreza has consistently been top rated. Over the years is has been available in 2, 4 and 5 door models, with all wheel drive or front wheel drive. Engines offered have been a 1.8L, 2.2L, and 2.0L, after 2002 only the 2.5L until the new 2.0L with CVT transmission was introduced in the 2012 models. the all new redesigned 2017 models, available December 2016, are assembled in Lafayette Indiana at SIA (Subaru Indiana America)

. New Car break in period- 1,000 miles- keep RPMs mostly under 4000, vary speeds with a normal mix of city and highway driving, avoid hard starts/stops, let the engine idle briefly before driving. Be nice to it... it's new. Oil- 0w-20 synthetic oil is required (5.3 qts) Spark plug-  NGK DILKAR7B8 1st oil change required at 6,000 miles or 6 months. Check the oil at 3mo/3000 miles.   Oil change: at least every 6,000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first, use 0w-20 synthetic oil only Tire rotation 6,000 miles or 6 months. Equal tread is required on all tires 12,000 miles or 12 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 30,000 miles or 30 months: Replace brake fluid and engine air filter. Inspect and replace other fluids, belts, hoses, spark plug wires as needed. 36,000 miles or 36 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 42,000 miles or 42 months: change engine oil and filter, and cabin air filter 48,000 miles or 48 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 54,000 miles or 54 months: change engine oil and filter, and cabin air filter 60,000 miles or 60 months: Replace spark plugs. front passenger airbag is on or off based on occupant weight (app 80lbs) EDR, Event Data Recorder information.  In the event of an impact, the EDR will freeze data including how various systems were operating, for example if seatbelts were buckled, if the gas or brake pedals were pressed, and vehicle speed. No personal data is stored. To read data, special equipment is required. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer (Subaru), other parties such as law enforcement that have the equipment can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or EDR.  Existing laws generally provide that information in an EDR is confidential and is the property of the owner of the motor vehicle. Information is accessed through the airbag system using a Subaru service computer.

Optional on Premium, Sport and Limited models Included on Premium with Package #13 and #15 Sport with Package #23 Limited with Package #33 and #35 This is the 3rd year Eyesight has been available on an Impreza or Crosstrek. Its the 3rd generation Eyesight (note- 1st gen Eyesight was never offered in the US)   Eyesight is.... two forward facing color cameras that see the road in front of the car and provide a warning and if necessary, brake activation. > Active Cruise Control- combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead. It issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed. Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. It does not replace conventional cruise control, which can still be used when desired. > Pre-Collision Braking can recognize an impending collision, alert the driver and automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision or minimize the impact when a collision is inevitable. > Pre-Collision Brake Assist-  If Eyesight recognizes an impending collision and the driver is applying the brakes but not with enough force, Pre-Collision Brake Assist automatically applies up to full braking pressure in order to try to shorten braking distances. > Pre-Collision Throttle Management is designed to help prevent drivers from accelerating into a stopped vehicle or other obstacle in front of them. It warns the driver and reduces engine power until he or she applies the brakes to avoid an impact. > Lead Vehicle Start Alert is a helpful EyeSight feature that alerts the driver when his or her vehicle remains stopped after a vehicle in front has started to move away. > Lane Departure Warning alerts drivers when they unintentionally move out of their travel lane. It takes no corrective vehicle action other than issuing visual and audible warnings. Doesn't operate under app 30 mph, or if the steering wheel is turned or turn signals used etc. This function can be turned off and will stay off until turned back on, even if the car is turned off and restarted > Lane Sway Warning acts in a similar way, detecting unusual back and forth vehicle movement within the lane of travel. Doesn't operate under app 38 mph, or if the steering wheel is turned or turn signals used etc. This function can be turned off and will stay off until turned back on, even if the car is turned off and restarted > new for 2017 Impreza Lane Keep Assist- will steer the vehicle back into the lane when the vehicle is going over 40 MPH and Lane Keep Assist is turned on. Uses the steering wheel position to briefly turn on the left or right fog light to illuminate a corner when the vehicle is turned. The fog lights have to be off for the system to turn them on. Limited model has standard Steering Responsive Headlights  The camera’s field of view is about 35 degrees horizontally from the center of the windshield. The camera’s field of vision extends up to about 360 feet in front of the vehicle, but objects very close to the vehicle may not be detected EyeSight works to recognize obstacles up to about a 30-mph (or less) speed differential. Essentially, EyeSight needs time to recognize an object or potential obstacle. If the speed difference between the EyeSight vehicle and the object is greater than up to 30 mph, the object will likely not be detected in time to stop of the car. NOTES Eyesight uses two forward facing cameras to see the road ahead, and only works when they can 'see'. Don't block the camera's views, put anything reflective on the dash, hang anything from the rear view mirror, or clean the dash so that it's shiny. Replace the windshield wipers as necessary. The Eyesight cameras will turn off if the windshield fogs up of they can't see for any reason. do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue.
Blind Spot Detection and Rear Vehicle Detection System
OPTIONAL ON PREMIUM, SPORT, AND LIMITEDS not standard on any 2017 Impreza models Premium Pkgs #13, #15 Sport CVT Pkgs #22, #23 Limited Pkgs #33, #35 The Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) system uses two small radar units, each mounted underneath the rear bumper skin by the tail lights The radar units send out signals to detect vehicles behind and to each side of the car that might not be visible in the rearview mirrors. To help avoid damage, the radar units are purposely mounted above the typical bumper impact line. There is an orange/yellow light on the inside of the mirror housing (not on the mirror itself) that will flash when there is a vehicle detected. The light is hard to miss. New this is the first year the blind spot symbol is on the mirror housing (not on the mirror glass) Blind Spot Detection (BSD) detects a vehicle alongside and slightly to the rear of you. Lane Change Assist (LCA)  warns of vehicles approaching farther back in the next lane. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) warns of vehicles approaching from the sides when you're backing out of a crowded parking spot and can't see down the row of cars. Lane Change Assist (LCA) looks for vehicles farther back in an adjacent lane – about 220 feet behind the Subaru vehicle. If the vehicle detected is approaching quickly – at a speed that could bring it alongside the Subaru vehicle within a few seconds – Lane Change Assist will illuminate a warning icon in the housing of that side's exterior mirror. If the driver signals a lane change, the warning icon in the mirror will flash rapidly. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) is standard on Limiteds, optional on Premiums. It will illuminate a warning icon in the housing of that side's exterior mirror when it detects a vehicle alongside and behind the Subaru vehicle in an area of about 22 feet x 11 feet. If the driver signals a lane change to that side, the warning icon in the mirror will flash. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)- when backing out of a parking spot-  uses the same radar sensors to help detect vehicles that cannot be seen by the driver as they approach from either side down a row of cars. This is especially helpful when reversing from between two larger vehicles. The driver is alerted by a flashing icon in the rear vision camera display, as well as an audible BEEPING alert
