WRX: A PARTIAL HISTORY by model year

2004 The 04 WRX is available 5/03, with a minor redesign by McLaren F1 designer Peter Stevens. New optional Premium Sedan Package with new for USA Impreza All Weather Package, Sunroof and spoiler. The WRX STi model available in June/July. Other WRX changes include projector beam fog lights, re-designed one-piece front seats, collapsible pedals, larger hood scoop, center tachometer, new head, tail and fog lights, new gray color vents and stereo, a few new colors ...
2003  The 03 WRX gets illuminated ignition key ring. New Sonic Yellow color available in sedan and wagon, sedan only available with the rear spoiler. App 1,500 yellow WRXs will be made. New optional 17" WRX wheels from Subaru, other performance items. (03 price increase $200)

New Car 1000 mile break-in period- keep RPMs under 4000, vary speeds, avoid hard starts/stops, warm up and cool down engine
1st oil change 3000 miles/3 months
Oil change: every 3,750, or at least every 7,500
Tire rotation 7,500 miles
15,000 miles - minor service, inspection, air and other filter changes as necessary.
30,000 mile service with major fluids, spark plugs, (WRX 60,000) and filters change.
60,000 miles (WRX spark plugs) - repeat 30,000
105,000 miles replace timing belt.

This is going to be a limited production vehicle.
Dealers will be allocated a certain number of STi. 
Rumors have it at 300 per month for the entire USA, and there are almost 600 dealers, so no dealer will get a lot.

Options: only a few factory options are available.
Wheel, either gold or silver-gray available on all STi colors
Silver/gray is reported to be the more common color
A stereo may be a dealer installed option, the car comes pre-wired but without one.

Subaru says: "The 2.5-liter turbocharged powerplant is the largest displacement engine ever installed in a WRX STi model and is exclusive to the North American market. It is the most powerful 4-cylinder engine available in the US. Until now, STi-badged Subaru vehicles had been available only in select world markets.
The success of the WRX prompted strong demand from American consumers for an even more extreme-performance version of this car. As a result, the U.S.-market Impreza WRX STi gives up nothing compared to models offered in Europe, Japan and other markets and in some ways offers more performance."
