through the factory stereo. Also recharges it except
for 4th generation Nano and 2ndGen iPhone. Works on all Legacy and
Outback 2007-2008-2009 without Satellite radio. Available factory or dealer
installed.

shield fits 2005 through 2009 Legacy GT and Outback XT turbos.
Helps keeps the turbo warmer, retain heat for faster response.

Harmon Kardan stereo speed sensing control - the new for 09 HK stereo
in the Outback and Legacy SE, Limited, XT, and 3.0R models has a subtle
automatic Speed Sensitive Automatic Volume Control (SSVC). This proprietary
HK technology is more focused on low voice frequency and down as opposed
to high frequency speed related noise like tire whine. The volume changes
may be very subtle. There are no adjustments or settings that the user
can control or set.
September 16, 2008-
Destination price increase. Destination on cars arriving at dealers
in late September 2008 will be $695 (up $30, from $665). Alaska will be
$845. Cars at dealers before the increase will be $30 less than prices
here, with a $665 destination.

2008, Brochure and Website errors - The 2009 Outback brochure
incorrectly indicates the 2.5i SE has a CD changer, the correct stereo
is a single disc CD.
Incline
Assist - The website may indicate the 09 Outback has 'incline
assist' (previously called hill holder). That's incorrect, the 09 Outback
doesn't have incline assist.

What
is PZEV, a brief, simple summary
The
EPA says a PZEV is the cleanest running gas car on today's market based
on emissions testing for carbon-containing compounds, oxides of nitrogen,
particulate matter, and other tailpipe nastiness. It is required in CA,
CT, NJ, NY, MA, ME, RI, VT, PA, OR, and WA

A charcoal cannister catches unburned gas left in the engine when it's
turned off so it doesn't just evaporate.

Fuel injectors that close tighter when they're not in use.
3.
A finer mesh in the catalytic converter, as well as optimized placement
of its precious metal.
4.
The engine's electronic brain is tuned to run the hot at start up to help
the catalytic converter heat up so it can start doing its job faster.

VDC

VDC
vehicle dynamics control, is a stability and traction skid control
system that measures and monitors variables such as steering wheel input,
braking, and vehicle angle, and then applies individual brakes and/or reduces
engine power to counteract skids or slides to help keep maintain driver
control.
TCS Traction
Control System. TCS senses a loss of of traction and applies the brakes
to the slipping wheel(s) to maintain vehicle motion.
VTD Variable
Torque Distribution on XT turbo and 3.0R 6 cylinder 5speed automatic transmissions
only. VTD traction control system has 45/55 performance oriented, front/rear
power split with Limited Slip rear axle.
The Outback is classed
as a light truck by Subaru for CAFE fuel economy reasons. 'Cafe'
stands Corporate Average Fuel Economy. This doesn't affect safety, economy
or mean the car will tip over or be unsafe like a SUV. Many other vehicles
are classed this way including Honda CRV, Dodge minivan, Toyota Rav4, Chrysler
PT Cruiser, Honda Odyssey, Honda Element, Cadillac ESV, Chrysler Pacifica
etc etc. Here is the official

Because is it considered
a truck, prvacy tinted glass is legal in states that only allow
it on trucks (some states allow dark tint on all vehicles).

Low
fuel light comes on with app 2 - 3 US gallons left.
Low tire pressure light TPMS- steady illumination when a tire is low,
flashes there's a problem with the system. Take to mechanic.
VDC
off light comes on when you have temporarily disabled the VDC system
(button is lower left dashboard) or when there's a problem with the system.
Take to mechanic.
Indicates the transmission fluid is too hot. Slow down and avoid hard driving,
hills, stop-go traffic etc. Take to mechanic.
Indicates that there is a problem. Or a loose gas cap. Anyway, slow down
and take to mechanic.
