- Yes, the rumors were wrong. It appears there will be a 2012 expected
to arrive mid-late September.

6/30- earthquake related
inventory shortages continue
While the earthquake was
mid-March, the effect of the factory closures and part shortages is only
now fully impacting dealer inventory. For the past few months, cars already
in the system and/or enroute before the earthquake have continued to arrive.
Now that those cars have already arrived, dealers are expecting far fewer
cars than they need. Supply varies by car line, but overall the selection
available will be less, and especially so of more popular models, packages
or colors that sell quickly anyway.
When dealers don't have
as many new cars to sell, they don't get as many trade-ins. When there
aren't as many trade-ins, auction cars tend to sell at higher prices, so
this temporary shortage has a ripple effect..
5/27/11-
Subaru has conflicting statements about Recommending vs Requiring synthetic
or regular oil.
>
Synthetic is required on all 2011 turbo and 2.5L Foresters
> 2011 Outback, Legacy,
Tribeca, Impreza, (exc turbos)- Some owners manuals will recommend
using synthetic but not require it. Owners manuals printed around March
2011 presumably indicate all Subarus require synthetic oil.
All 2011 models use 5w-30
except the Forester X which uses 0w-20
2011
maintenance schedule
5/23 Tribeca rumored to be at the end of the model run. Its possible, but in my opinion the Tribeca will continue and there will be a 2012 model if for no other reason than a replacement is not yet ready. No doubt Subaru is a working on one, perhaps with Toyota who has a number of suitable vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus luneup. Subaru's only comment on this rumor is that is a rumor.
4/11 Factory orders end
for 2011s-
Factory orders are no longer
accepted for any 2011 vehicle. This is normal as 2011 model production
winds down and starts the shift to 2012, and also to better manage
limited parts and resources after the March 11 earthquake. In late March,
some lower volume Outback and Legacy models had been already removed from
the order list- manual transmissions, 3.6Rs, uncommon Option Packages.
3/20 Tribeca article,
how child seats fit... its tight but they fit
'With three rows of seats
standard, the 2011 Subaru Tribeca is a crossover for families looking for
seating for up to seven people and the automaker’s standard all-wheel drive.
The Tribeca’s three-seat second row slides forward and back, but was there
enough room for rear-facing child-safety seats?
For the Car Seat Check,
we use a Cosco rear-facing infant-safety seat, a Graco convertible child-safety
seat and Graco high-back booster seat. The front seats are adjusted to
a comfortable position for a 6-foot driver and a 5-foot-8 passenger. The
child seats are installed in the second row and, if available, third row.
The booster seat sits behind the driver’s seat, and the infant seat and
convertible seats are installed behind the passenger seat....
The Tribeca has two sets
of lower Latch anchors in the second row and none in the third row. The
anchors are buried in the seat bight, making them difficult to access.
Reclining the seatback helped to expose the anchors somewhat, but the seat
cushioning still got in our tester’s way. There are five tether anchors
in the Tribeca, with three on the second-row seatbacks and two for the
third row along the lip of the cargo floor. All were easy to use.
The high-back booster seat
fit well in the second row...
In the third row, the booster
seat (photo above) also fit well and the seat belt buckles were easy to
use. However, third-row legroom could be tight...
Adjusting the second-row’s
reclining seatback helped us to get a good fit for our forward-facing convertible.
However, the rear-facing convertible didn’t fit as easily....' read the

2011 Standard Features Premium, Limited, and Touring this is in addition to the standard safety and mechanical features About the auto dimming rear view mirror with back-up camera (by Gentex Co). Standard on Touring model, part of optional sunroof pkg on Limited. By Gentex. The RCD (rear camera display) mirror contains a liquid crystal display (LCD) that works with a video camera mounted at the rear of the vehicle to provide a view directly behind the vehicle while backing up. When the vehicle is shifted into "reverse," a display appears automatically through the auto-dimming mirror's reflective surface. The display disappears when the vehicle is shifted into any other gear, a capability that is made possible utilizing Gentex's "transflective" coating and lighting techniques, which result in a bright, high-resolution color image. The RCD mirror is equipped with a compass that utilizes Gentex's proprietary Z-Nav(R) technology, a highly-accurate sensor that determines the vehicle's directional heading subject to change, correction, updating |

Emergency:
towing, dashboard warning lights, jump starts, flat tires
Always
call a professional like Subaru's Roadside Asistance 800 261-2155 or your
own emergency service folks. And read the owner's manual.
Information
here is unofficial and subject to change and correction, and a Subaru
trained mechanic should repair or diagnose any and all issues!
Towing your Tribeca:Tow on a flat bed truck only. However if you have no choice but to tow on the ground there's potential transmission damage, keep the speed under 20mph and the distance under 31 miles, and any damage probably won't be covered by the warranty!
Warning dashboard lights.
Always take to a mechanic and have it checked out!
This isn't a full list,
there's a lot more in the owners manual.
Subject to change, correction.
Low fuel light comes on with app 2.6 US gallons left. |
Low tire pressure light TPMS- steady illumination when a tire is low, flashes there's a problem with the system. Take to mechanic. |
VDC off light comes on when you have temporarily disabled the VDC system or when there's a problem with the system. Take to mechanic. |
AWD light (AWD = all wheel drive) flashes if the vehicle is driven with mismatched or low tires which is always bad on an all-wheel-drive. |
Indicates the transmission fluid is too hot. Slow down and avoid hard driving, hills, stop-go traffic etc. Take to mechanic. |
Indicates rear differential fluid is too hot. Park, let it cool down and if the light goes out it's ok. Take to mechanic. |
Indicates that there is a problem. Or a loose gas cap. Anyway, slow down and take to mechanic. |
Jump starting
1.Connect one jumper to
the positive (+) terminal on the dead battery and connect the other end
to the positive (+) terminal of the good booster battery.
2. Connect one end of the
other cable to the negative terminal of the good battery and clamp the
other end of the cable to the strut mounting nut.
Flat tires
The Tribeca has TPMS Tire
pressure monitoring. When a tire's pressure drop below appr. 27psi
a dashboard warning light goes on. It doesn' t say which tire so check
all of them. Using compressed tire inflator sealant may help get
you home etc but will damage the TPMS sensor. When a tire or wheel is replaced,
the sensor has to be programmed.
The spare is outside
under the back.
To lower the spare, remove
the subfloor storage lid in the cargo area, take out the jack and remove
an access cover and cap. Get the hex-headed hoist shaft tool in the tool
kit and fit it into the hole and put the wheel lug nut wrench onto it and
turn it counter clockwise. Be sure to remove (not simply keep it
open) the subfloor storage lid before turning the wheel nut wrench, otherwise
the lid may be damaged. To replace the spare just wind it back up until
you hear a few clicks and make sure the tire is tight.
