Why do I want all wheel
drive? I live in a dry warm climate.
All wheel drive is a full
time traction system that is effective on dry as well as slick roads and
helps maintain stability and control under most conditions.
It is a benefit in all driving
conditions but of course especially any area where there is snow or rain
including the Northwest, Northeast, Midwest.
Is there an SUV?
The Tribeca 6 cylinder
with optional 7 passenger seating...
Is there a Hybrid? There might be in the next few years- in 2012
what should this next question be? Ideas welcome.
Comments? Let me know contact.

May 2010. To enhance the new car experience, Subaru will send owners a welcome packet with a guide to owner benefits booklet with company contact info, various websites etc. However, they're not including contact info for your dealer which should be the first place you go for specific questions about operating the new car, or for service, comments, help, advice etc. Plus you can request a free 'Badge of Ownership' to put on the car to show and help spread the Love. If you currently have a Subaru, you can get one too. Here's my webpage with photos of the badges and links.

2/27/2010 STI SE
and WRX Limited models arriving at dealers. The new STI SE alloy wheel
is really good looking, and the SE handling is great! STI SE is available
in aspen white, wr blue, dark gray, and black and all colors sell out quickly.
2/7/2010 hands free cell
phone bluetooth 'BlueConnect' now available. Installs under the heater
controls. Not available with Navigation.
1/29/10 STI SE and WRX
Limited prices announced
1/12/10 STI SE
and WRX Limited expected starting March 2010
12/2/09 STI SE price
The handling and suspension package STI SE model available in early Spring
2010 will have a MSRP of $33,690 ($32995 +695 destination) which is $2000
less than the current base STI MSRP of $35,690. This is a bargain
for upgraded handling and suspension if you're ok with halogen low beams,
a 4 speaker single disc CD player, and manual air conditioning. Quantity
will be 'limited' and it will be available initially with 125 Aspen White
ones. Other colors available are WR Blue, Dark Gray and Obsidian Black.
Update 11/24/09
New WRX, STI models - Subaru will introduce a new 2010 Impreza
WRX STI Special Edition (model code ALU) handling/suspension package, and
WRX Limited (model code AJP, ALP) at the LA Auto Show, December 4-13.
The STI Special Edition will be available in an initial limited run of
125 units. It will be a slightly decontented model with upgraded performance
suspension (derived from the Japanese spec C), unique Aspen White paint
and gray spec C wheels. It will have halogen headlights instead of HID,
a single-disc CD player with 4speakers instead of the 6 CD changer
with 10 speakers, manual air conditioning instead climate control, and
body color side mirrors. The 2010 Impreza WRX Limited adds leather
interior and Sirius satellite radio to the WRX Premium model. Cars expected
March/April?
2010
Available August 2009.
Body styles continue with the same 4 door sedan and 5 door wagon-hatchbacks,
with the 2.5L 4cylinder and the 2.5L turbo 4cylinder WRX performance models.
Mechanical and body design features remain much the same on all models
including the STI.
All 2010 Subaru models are
now available with 'Option Packages' from the factory. All 2.5L 4 cylinder
models get a new front grill. A USB 'Media Hub' option replaces the
iPod interface so you can play almost any USB connected device through
the stereo, even a thumb drive. Only the 2.5 Premium 4 and 5 door model
has any major feature changes. The 2010 Premium is available without the
sunroof and fog lights that was standard on the 09 2.5 Premium version,
and a new 2.5 Premium SE with Option Package #11 adds the sunroof and fog
lights plus now includes the All Weather Package, and all for only $500
after package discount. This is new, previously the All Weather Pkg was
only available on the Outback Sport. The optional Navigation System now
includes Bluetooth.
The Outback Sport continues
with a few cosmetic changes- the door handles are now painted medium silver
instead of bright chrome silver.
Colors- Camillia Red Pearl
and Paprika Red Pearl with silver low accent are new colors, Sunlight Gold
opal has been dropped.
WRX, 2.5GT and STI continue
much the same with no changes.
Forester
2010
update 1/12/10-
Two new 2010 Forester Option Packages
announced and confirmed at the Detroit Auto Show. New Option Packages available
on cars arriving March early February 2010.
X model gets a new Special
Edition (SE) Option Package (option code #21, MSRP $400) which includes
16" alloy wheels and roof rails (replacing steel wheels and no roof rails).
X Limited gets a new Navigation and Convenience Package (option code #22,
MSRP $500 increase over Navigation Pkg, for a total of $2300) which adds
cargo cover, HID headlights, tilt and new telescoping steering wheel, and
one-touch folding rear seats to the Navigation system package.
Available June 2009.
All 2010 Subaru models are now available with factory 'Option Packages'.
Some of the these Option Packages are features that were previously standard
on that model.
Very few changes from 2009,
the first Forester year for the current model. For 2010, the Premium
model gets a power driver seat (that's an important and nice upgrade) and
the All Weather Pkg that was previously standard on the Premium is
now factory Option Pkg #02. On the Limited model, the optional Navigation
now includes Bluetooth. XT Premium and Limited models continue as before.
New color Paprika Red Pearl. iPod interface still an option.

Outback
2010
Available June 2009 (manual
transmissions late August). All new and completely redesigned for 2010,
the largest redesign since the 1995 introduction. There are 3 4cylinder
models, and 3 6cylinder models. XT turbo and SI Drive has been discontinued
(used on previopus 6 cyl models).
On a slightly longer wheelbase,
the 2010 is now a CUV (crossover utility vehicle) and no longer a station
wagon though it rides on a car platform and is not an SUV. The 10 Outback
is bigger in everyway except for length, it is actually 0.8" shorter, but
it's taller and wider. New body, new interior, new 6 cylinder engine, 2
new transmissions -a CVT automatic and a 6 speed manual, new dashboard,
console, new seats... it's all new. Windows are framed for the first time
on any Outback so it's a signifcantly quieter car with much less wind noise.
Rear seat legroom increased substancially, the rear doors open very wide
for easy access, the rear windpws go all the way down, and the front
seats are wider, softer, more comfortable.
All 2010 Subaru models are
now available with factory 'Option Packages'. Some of the these Option
Packages are for features that were previously standard on that model.
New 3.6L engine (previously used in Tribeca) runs on regular fuel and is
available only with the automatic 5 speed Sportshift transmission used
in previous years. The 3.6L replaces the 3.0L.
The new CVT transmission
gets up to 29MPG and is the only automatic available on 2.5i models. The
CVT and 5spd automatic both have Paddle Shifters for manual control.
Bluetooth is now available
on all models - it's part of the Harman Kardon audio, Navigation, or Blueconnect.
All models have a generic aux input but there's a new Media Hub option
(with optional wireless audio streaming) that includes a USB port to play
music through the stereo. The USB replaces the iPod interface available
on previous models.
For some reason, the outside
power mirrors are fixed and not hinged and don't fold in.
New colors include Azurite
Blue, Cypress Green, Sky Blue (late availability), Graphite Gray, Crystal
Black.
Legacy
2010
Available June 2009. Manual
2.5L late availability. All new and completely redesigned for 2010,
this is biggest remodel since the Legacy was introduced in 1990.
For 2010, models include 3 4cylinder models, 3 GT turbo models,
and 3 6cylinder models. GT specB and SI Drive has been discontinued.
All 2010 Subaru models are
now available with factory 'Option Packages'. Some of the these Option
Packages are features that were previously standard on that model.
Windows are framed for the
first time on a Legacy which makes for less wind noise and a much much
quieter car. On a slightly longer wheelbase, this sedan has grown up, and
is longer and wider. New body, new interior, new 6 cylinder 3.6L engine,
2 new transmissions - a CVT automatic and a 6 speed manual - new
dashboard, console, new seats... it's all new.
Rear seat legroom has increased
substancially and the rear doors open fully for very easy seat access.
The front seats are wider and softer.
The 2.5L 4 cylinder is the
same as previous years as is the turbo version in the GT. A new 3.6L engine
previously used in Tribeca replaces the 3.0L and runs on regular fuel.
The 3.6R models all use the same automatic SportShift 5spd transmission
as previous years.
The turbo GT is now only
available with a manual 6 speed, and the SI Drive has been dropped.
The new CVT automatic transmission
gets up to 31MPG and is the only automatic available on 2.5i models. The
CVT and 5spd automatic both have Paddle Shifters for manual control.
Bluetooth is now available
on all models - it's part of the Harman Kardon audio, Navigation, or Blueconnect
features. All models have a generic aux input but there's a new optional
Media Hub (not available with h/k or Nav., and there's also optional wireless
audio streaming) that includes a USB port to play music through the stereo.
The USB replaces the iPod interface available on previous models.
For some reason, the outside
power mirrors are fixed and not hinged and don't fold in.
New colors include Azurite
Blue, Cypress Green, Sky Blue (late availability), Graphite Gray, Crystal
Black.
Tribeca
2010
Prices announce late September.
All Tribecas will now be 7 passenger- if you want a 5 passenger please
check out the 2010 Outback. There are 3 Tribeca models, with Option Packages
as with all the other cars this year. No changes have been announced, and
engine, body, interior are the same as 09/08.
The 3 models are Premium,
Limited, and new top of the line Touring. A few new upgrades like 2 new
Harman Kardon 385w audio packages, a new rear view mirror with back up
camera, silver painted wheels on the Touring. Blueconnect is standfard
on Limited Touring ((optional on Premium) and the iPod Interface is still
an option - it's interesting that the media hub is not an option on the
Tribeca like on the Outback and Legacy. New colors include Azurite and
Sky Blue, Crystal black, Steel silver. Interiors remain the same
Subaru history, photos and brief year-by-year changes
WARRANTY: 3 years/36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, 5years/60,000 miles powertrain, Roadside Assistance 3 years/36,000 miles.
